Belly Up to the Bar!

Ok, I had a thought that we could have a pass-along-a-file thing where there would be a background of say a saloon and someone could add their character, and then repost it and so on until we have a really good scene with everyone in it. I mentioned it to Cartuneman, and before I could even figure out how I would go about creating such a background, he had knocked out a masterpiece suitable for even my favorite cartoons. Ya gotta envy that kinda talent sometimes. So here is the file, as it currently stands with the sheriff included. I'd say it needs a bar and bartender for sure, a piano maybe, definatly a card table with some cheatin varmints! Sound like a good idea?

Thirsty Thurston

*sniff* Is that alcohol I smell? Thirsty Thurston has just joined the party! Thirsty, sometimes referred to as "Socket," is the resident drunk in Roosterpoot. He's been in town a while but has been around.

Thirsty came to Roosterpoot after hearing tell of a Doctor in the area who could fix him up proper with a new eye. He hasn't found him yet, but Thirsty is in no hurry to leave town. You see, Thirsty has a steady supply of libations on hand in the local saloon. How does he pay for said libations? Easy. Thirsty has a knack for gathering information. Taking advantage of his reputation, Thirsty isn't always quite as drunk as he seems, and many a man has mistakenly thought "Socket" was just sleeping off a load in the corner when in fact he is listening intently.

In a town like Roosterpoot, Thirsty has no problem turning what he hears into a lucrative income... which he promptly drinks up. Be it law man or bandit, if you want the inside scoop in Roosterpoot, you don't read the paper, you talk to Thirsty Thurston, but always for a price.

A sticky moment.......

Fresh off the stage-coach.

"Ello Roosterpootians! Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Reginald T. Stonehouse III, esq.

Please don't let the poster alarm you! I can assure you there was just some kind of mix-up in Kansas City!

Now can someone please kindly direct me to a tavern with games of chance?

I think this looks like Roosterpoot?

You guys like this for a header?

Here is the black velvet painting of our beloved founding father. Maybe?

Some revisions....

Looking a little more like a horse now. ( I hope)

Hiram Horse Bio

Now it just downright wouldn't be proper for the Sheriff of Roosterpoot not to have a horse...

I've got some stuff in mind already, just wanted to get the design down tonight.

It takes a Chicken Hawk to catch a Rooster....

As promised here's my attempt at Henry Hawk & his "prey." Henry Hawk & Foghorn Leghorn are copywritten by Warner Bros, both originally drawn by Chuck Jones & first appeared in the early 40's.

Coulda done better... coulda done worse. Used some reference pics of course.

Now off to develop Hiram Horse!

Important Telegraph

It has come to our attention that Cactus T has been spotted in the vicinity of Roosterpoot. We recommend that you lock you doors at all time, because this bounty hunter knows no morals.

Excellent blog!

Be aware of that coupon, it will expire soon.....not the coupon but the ol' broad on it! lol. Love the old classic Looney Tunes drawings. Brings back some good ol' memories.

I'm glad I made it here, been a long time since I've been to Roosterpoot. My travel agent is a city slicker and couldn't find it on the map. Thanks for the directions Cart. I'll be visiting often. Good to see you're still slingin' the ol' lead!

Fowl Chicken Scratching

They call this here place Roosterpoot and everyone knows that there can only be one big rooster in the barn yard. Here is one last Looney Tunes sketch before I get run out of town on a rail.

The sheriff?

Here is Sheriff Nervous Nelly. He has a big badge, a big belt buckle, and is a big coward. He is fleetingly seen hiding behind something and doing the best to save his own skin in such a ruthless town.

I gaurantee he aint poopen gunslingers!

So iffin ya ain't gunslingers what is ya!

Now just what does a rooster poot anyways???

I like this guy, feel like he's got some personality already. I still need to develop him further, but we'll probably be seing more of this fella...

*sorry about the quality, the scanner at work always yields giant files which then look like this when compressed. I'll edit it when I get home with a better pic.*

Suffer'n Succatash

Todays sketches are of the clown prince of the Looney Tunes. My favorite cartoons with Sylvester are the ones were he is just a pet cat traveling around with Porkey Pig.

I suppose that Sylvester and Wile E. should have formed a union because they both spent a lot of years chasing birds and getting clobbered.

Like all the Looney Tunes, Sylvester is fun to draw. Just watch out that he doesn't get drool all over your drawing board when he starts speaking with those spit showers.

Great big question?

Dose anyone know where I can find or one of you guys may have a sound track loop of a real cheesy western soundtrack sort of in the genre of the spagetti westerns like maybe the intro song to "The Good The Bad and The Ugly." I thought we could post a HTML of it in a loop and always have it playing in the BG any comments or help welcome!

Hi everyone!

I hope you all are recieving your invites. when you get your invites just follow the instructions and I'll authorize you after that it may take a few hours for me to get back to you but please stand by. I have had about 25 people so far requesting authorization. Now I gotta get busy with it! hahahahaha here is a classic from the original thread to tide ya over till i get back from my sons High school function.
So till then "Draw you city slikkers"

Hare Today Who Knows Where Tomorrow

Today's sketches are of you know who, that carrot eating, wise cracking, lovable underground dwelling rabbit. Always fun to draw. I love drawing Bug's facial expressions almost as much as Wile E. Coyote's expressions. Of course putting Bugs and Wile E. together in the same cartoon was pure genius, "super genius" that is.....

Who knows what I'll post tomorrow, but it is safe to say it will probably be another famous Looney Tune character because that's what I'm drawing right now as they are so recognizable that they really force me to get my proportions correct to keep them on model which is great practice.

Every Coyote Has His Day

Today's sketch is Wile E. Coyote who has to be one of my favorite Chuck Jones creations. His facial expressions are priceless. If he had just been smart enough to buy food with all his money instead of wasting it all on defective Acme products, he wouldn't have ever had to chase the road runner.

Just as a side note, Wile E. is one of the only famous cartoon characters with duel identities he was not only Wile E. Coyote in the Roadrunner series but he was Ralph Wolf in the Sam Sheepdog and Ralph Wolf series.
